SUGGEST AWAY!

Anonymous said...
I would like for you to allow a section (all it's own), where we as citizens, can suggest where the county should make their budget cuts.

We know they're reading, let's see if they listen.

An Anonymous suggestion, posted as requested.

Yes they are reading! and even anonymously commenting. Maybe they will listen.. Case in point is here is the place we will let them see.

We are getting even more popular the site traffic is way up! Thank you for the support!

First of all . . . no wage increase is a no brainer!

Second, if Highway workers had their hours reduced why not others?

Third, reduce the cost of the medical insurance premiums by making the deductible higher.

I see alot of people sitting doing nothing, get an outside company to do an assessment on labor and efficiency. The cost incurred for such a survey would pay for itself with the money you save in paying people to play solitare on county time

Some company's lower their insurance cost by raising deductibles. If it's good for the company I work for, why not the county? I have to agree also, if the highway can have their hours cut, why not the rest of the county? Where else can the budget get cut? Kathy going to have her hands full. Hope she can do it.

i hear the county workers already pay a high deductible. you talked like it will be up to kathy; she isn't the only commisioner.

Shes the only one who has any sense!

call mitch daniels, get his advice and privatize the departments that run over budget(or have trouble living within their means), like the highway department, health department. He saved millions for the state. The same can be done for the county.

Part time county officials should not be allowed to have county insurance. This would save the county since they would not have to cover whaterever (huge) percentage they pay for employees. There are not very many part-time jobs that offer health benefits and why should our tax dollars be paying for this? These officials can either get a full-time job like the rest of us or pay full premiums for their own insurance.

The council needs to take a serious look at this. Many of them are business owners who would otherwise have no health benefits. They need to know that this is not a wise financial decision for the county and look at what it is costing us, the taxpayers. This will show what our council is made of and if are they runiing for office for the reasons (to help improve our county) or are they only in it because they need the insurance.

Take away this option for the part-timers and let's see who stays on the ballot. Show us what you're made of council.

With all the talk of Starke Co not having any money and with the country looking at a rescission or depression, it seems that the City of Knox can give it's employees a 4% wage increase. It is already figured in the 2009 budget. Folks might want to think about this. The next reading will be on Dec. 23rd at 7 PM. 4% seems awful high at this time in our country.

Sorry folks, we should watch how we spend our money at this time. Maybe 2% would work for awhile to see how things progress.

this is all easy for everyone say increases on insureance deductibles and less wages, but truth is our deductible is 1000 per family member and try feeding your family on 35 hours a week and pray that your kids don't get sick cause someone had a great idea to raise our deductible.
maybe your bosses should cut Your hours , raise YOUR deductible , and cut your raise.
the actions of the 2 crooked commisioners,(milo and danford) the dead superintentdent and forman, are not the workers fault. take everything they got and hang their asses!!!!

Anonymous said...

well when you talk about hours getting cut at the garage- what is interesting is how Milo can sell the county a back hoe for more than its worth to the county, no less on the backs of the workers, who have to get their hours cut. He isnt effected by that? cause he gets pay with benefits from the county too?

What can the Boys In Orange , do for you?

I hope there will be a code of conduct and also a conflict of interest policies in 2009 for all county officicals. There's too many family members working in offices, too much not-what-I-know,it's-who-I-know kind of thing going on! And political party affilations shoudn't make a difference when applying for a job!

Anonymous said...

dont think that they will be looking at your voting record when you ask for a job!!!

Can't wait to see who is working in the Treasurer's Office with Linda on January 2nd!

Anonymous said...

Linda's niece Erica? Her daughter in law Michelle?

Anonymous said...

Her Sister JUDY!!! Who is also a county council member

Anonymous said...

what differance does it make? houston has all her fatass relatives in her office , always has.

The county council already passed the budget and all employees got a 3% payraise. The only part time people who get health insurance are the council members and commissioners, this cost the county about $94,000 in 2008

Anonymous said...

that 95,000 bucks can fix a real road other than one to a pig farm a.k.a.- confined hog operation

We are worried about Jonny ray allegedly taking some cash for some garbage and milo charging 20,000 bucks more for a back hoe. but looks like them people in part time jobs get insurance are stealing too!

Will the stimulus package help us, and with the problems in Starke County as they are now. Do you think that the State of Indiana will actually give us anything. Just hearsay, from locals, and a couple of down state officials. Starke County has done things the way they wanted for many years. The State is taking the stance now, since Stake county is only a drain because of their ways of doing business, The state will no longer support this, and will only support the bare minimum required by law unless a state takeover is needed. Whats your opinion on this. Do you like how Starke County is operated or do you like the idea of other officials taking over with the intention of making this county prosperous and self supporting.
